The Stories of the Realms Between span across time, space, and dimensions. Cosmic in scale, the stories explore making sense of what we have in the scope of what we can't control.

Cosmology

A key rule for the cosmology of the Realms Between is that no one belief system excludes another; the universe is large enough that they all fit cohesively, and how they interact with each other is largely where the world conflicts come from.
In my writing, I focus on Irish Mythology, Shinto, and Hinduism.

The Major Realms

There are three "Major Realms"; The Material, the In Between, and the Beyond. Souta has labeled them the 'Kai' to keep things straight and to make them easier for him to pronounce.

The Domains

Within the Major Realms sit the Domains; regions where different energies originate and interact with the Realms as Magic. There are six domains; Light, Shadow, Thoughts, Mind, Soul, and Spirit.

Yomi No Kuni

Yomi (黄泉) is the Japanese land of the dead, a shadowy underworld where souls go after death. It is described in the Kojiki as a dark, polluted realm from which return is nearly impossible. Yomi represents spiritual defilement, and separation from the living world.

Avalon

The famous sanctuary of healing. In the Realms Between, The myth of Avalon is the same as a few other famous healing locations.

Sauraloka

Sauraloka is the celestial realm of Surya, the Hindu Sun God, associated with light, time, and cosmic order. It represents radiance, truth, and the life-giving force of the sun.
